I love my deen and I do not want to take it off. But some mornings I look in the mirror and just feel plain, or not pretty, and it gets to me. How do you push through those days?
First, feeling this does not make you a bad Muslim, it makes you a human being. Some mornings are just heavy. What helped me was separating the feeling from the fact: the mirror is having a bad day, your worth is not. A colour that lights up your face and two minutes on the drape can genuinely shift a whole morning. And on the truly rough days, the bad hijab days post made me feel so much less alone.
Keep one or two hijabs that you KNOW make you feel beautiful and reach for those on the low days. Not the day to experiment. Save your favourite for when you need it most.
Honestly, curating who I follow helped more than anything. I muted the accounts that made me feel less-than. The comparison was doing half the damage.
You are not alone in this at all, so many of us feel it and never say it out loud. Sending you so much love. Also confidence in hijab is worth a read on a calm day.
On the hardest mornings I remind myself why I started. The feeling passes, the intention stays. You are doing something beautiful even when it does not feel like it.
